Planets - Rising and Setting

This example shows the rising and setting times of all the major planets over a three month period. The moon display has been turned off for clarity.

Mercury (purple) makes a brief appearance in morning twilight in late December. Venus (yellow) rises almost two hours before dawn to start with but is lost in morning twilight at the end. Mars (red) rises in deep morning twilight at the beginning of the period and about an hour before dawn at the end. Jupiter (green) rises at dawn at the start and by the end is rising around midnight. Saturn (blue) is rising before midnight at the start and rises before sunset at the end.
