Wilton Windmill and Setting Sun

Even a low sun can be dangerously bright !   Always use proper filters and protect your eyes.

I tried for several weeks to get a clear hazy evening and eventually got the view I wanted. The sun was distorted by refreaction and by irregular changes in the atmosphere as it dropped that last degree toward the horizon.

In these two images the top becomes detached for a moment as it passes through a distorting layer.

A slightly ragged but very flattened sun finally slips behind the windmill.
