A large gap in the cloud, far to the west and below my horizon, allowed the heavily reddened rays through. The orange rays lit up the stratus from horizon to overhead giving a superb sunset display. A patch of blue sky helped to emphasise the colour. |

As the sun sank lower the area covered shrank and the colour shifted to a deeper red. |
