Circumzenithal Arc and Sundogs

I saw several sundogs after leaving work which was a good sign to look out for other halo effects.

At this point there was a good circumzenthal arc high in the sky with a fragment of upper tangent arc between it and the sun, plus a sundog each side of the sun.

With the sun only 12 degrees above the horizon the arc is far enough from the zenith to be quite long.

Showing the rule of thumb for working out where to look for sundogs in relation to the sun.

Taking great care to keep the sun behind your thumb of course!
