Earthshine on the Crescent Moon - Timelapse

This sequence of the crescent moon setting spans 25 minutes and is speeded up about 50 times. At higher resolutions some of the background stars are clearly visible.

The exposure was chosen to clearly show features on the part of the moon lit by earthshine. The sunlit part is grossly overexposed.

I was a bit annoyed when the clouds started to form but they actually added to the sequence.

Fortunately they cleared as the moon set and you can still see the earthshine after the bright crescent has disappeared.
