Noctilucent Cloud - 17th June 2009

This display was so bright that I wasn't entirely sure they were noctilucent clouds at first.

However there was no doubt by this time when the sun was 9.5 degrees below the horizon.

As the sky darkened further it revealed the most dense noctilucent clouds I've seen.

Capella, left of centre, is almost hidden by the clouds.

Sun 11.1 degrees below the horizon

The display stretched over a large area but to the left of the sun's position the cloud was much thinner.
