Weak Circumzenithal Arc

I was hoping to see a circumzenithal arc in the thin veil of cirrus that was approaching. Instead a faint arc formed in the thicker cloud preceding it.

The arc faded out as the smooth cirrus moved in, the opposite of what I had expected. This shows that you can't tell if the crystals are suitable for haloes just from the appearance of the cloud.
