Sun Pillar Timelapse

This sun pillar was visible for over twenty minutes. The timelapse below shows how it follows the sun along the horizon as the sun moves down and to the right. Speeded up about 50 times.

The sequence begins with the sun still half a degree above the astronomical horizon.

Still clearly visible ten minutes later, directly above the sun's position

The last bit of pillar fades out as the sun drops more than 3.5 degrees below the horizon.
