Colourful Sunsets

High cirrus catches the last of the reddened twilight rays.

With so much low cloud around this sunset didn't look too promising at first. Fortunately a large enough gap opened to give a view of high cloud at various levels. The different amounts of reddening are quite noticeable and the dark low level clouds actually added to the scene.

This colourful sunset lasted for several minutes, it also highlighted an intriguing cloud formation, seen in more detail below.

It was probably only the low sun angle that made this wavy feature so obvious.
