Full Lunar Halo

This strong halo round the moon was visible on and off over several hours. The halo was very obvious to the eye but by moonlight it wasn't strong enough to show much colour.

The long exposure here shows some colour, and also picks up some distant orange skyglow. Mars is the 'star' in the right edge of the halo.

In this view of the lower section of the halo Orion can be seen rising over the hedge and houses at lower left.
