Sun Pillar Sequence

It can sometimes take several minutes to be sure that what seems to be a sun pillar isn't just a single vertical crespuscular ray.

Any doubt with this one disappeared as it moved slowly from left to right, remaining above the sun as it sank deeper below the horizon.

Taken from the same spot this movement is clearly seen in the sequence of images taken about four minutes apart.

The pillar finally faded when the Sun was about three degrees below the horizon.
