Lunar Corona - Cloud and Fog

Lunar cloud corona

Two complete rings are easily visible in this lunar cloud corona, together with an incomplete third ring. Drop size is estimated to be 15 microns with some variation near the edge of the cloud.

Castor and Pollux are the stars to upper right while Saturn is visible at lower right.

Lunar fog corona

A month later and the moon is again close to Castor and Pollux, just visible to the upper left of the moon.

Two rings are also visible but this time the corona is formed in low fog, however the drop size is similar at about 13 microns.
