Sundog and Cloud Shape

This odd shaped cloud was just to the left of the sundog position. It was brighter than the surrounding cloud because it had the right kind of crystals to form a sundog and lay in the white 'tail' of the sundog.

Looking like some kind of insect the cloud drifted to the right and part of it entered the coloured region of the sundog. The other cirrus visible was obviously not composed of the right kind of crystals because it showed no halo effects at all.

The nose of the cloud has passed through the coloured part of the sundog and has faded significantly. Being inside the angle of mimimum deviation no extra light is refracted through the crystals and it is just an ordinary cloud again.
