Evening Sundogs

Flanking the sun, at the same altitude, this pair of sundogs makes for an interesting sunset.

In this example they are clearly formed by the higher level of cirrus and are shining through gaps in the lower level.

Be careful when trying to observe them - you will usually have to block out the sun somehow, particularly when observing both at once.

The sun was far too bright to view safely in this 'hit and hope' shot. I roughly positioned the camera with the sun out of the field of view, then looked away and moved the camera down slightly to take the shot.
