Sundogs High and Low

Quite often a sundog will be seen in an isolated patch of cloud and may only last for a few minutes. The sun was still fairly high (21 degrees) so this sundog was noticeably splayed outwards compared to the one below.

This sundog was very bright, but has much less blue in it than the one above because it is so close to sunset. The cloud that formed it was very thin and this is often the case with the brightest sundogs.
