Artificial Glory Polarisation

An attempt to catch a moonlight fogbow was unsuccessful because the fog was too deep. Instead I used a single car headlight to show some interesting effects. The top image shows a glory taken through a polarising filter with the axis horizontal.

The lower image shows the appearance with the polarising axis vertical. Notice how the bluish hollow has rotated with the polariser, showing that the centre of the glory is strongly polarised. (The different appearance of the spectre is because the tripod was moved slightly between exposures.)
