Miscellaneous Rainbows

Summer rainbow Rainbow over the Marlborough downs

A closeup of a summer rainbow. The showers were higher than usual so the low sun combined with light rain to give some impressive bows.

A light autumn shower moves away over the Marlborough Downs.

Colourful rainbow fragment Rainbow over a white horse

It is worth keeping an eye on distant showers as there is always the possibility of seeing part of a rainbow. This fragment was particularly colourful.

This 50 metre long figure of a horse was originally cut into the chalk downs in 1812. One of several such figures in Wiltshire this one lies a mile north of the village of Alton Barnes.

Winter shower rainbow

A beautiful bow formed as a heavy winter shower moved away. There is a trace of reflected bow in the large puddle in the field. ( Power cables edited out )
